I know when I say Japanese or Okinawan pizza, you probably get a very strange image in your head. You think pizza with fish or octopus on it, but in actuality pizza on Okinawa is very similar to pizza you could find in the states, with one or two differences. First somehow the pizza feels lighter and less filling, and secondly they are not bound by the traditional thoughts of tomato based sauces and cheese. The Okinawan pizzas I have been able to taste are truly culinary brilliance and I am glad I have had the chance to try them.
One of my favorite local pizza places here on Okinawa is a small café like place on the 3rd floor of a building over along the seawall in Chatan. It’s name is Bella Napoli. What makes this place great is the friendly atmosphere (you can go here on a date night or with your family – I have done both), amazing pizza, and great view.
They offer a variety of pizzas, ranging from margarita pizza, to chorizo, to curry, to four cheeses. They also offer a variety of appetizers and beverages. The pizzas range anywhere from 1,000 yen (on Napoli days which are the 10th, 20th, and 30th of each month) to 1,800 yen. They are size wise between a small and medium pizza at about 9″, and especially if you order an appetizer are great for sharing.
Bella Napoli is one of our favorite places to go for dinner or even lunch. We never leave hungry.
They accept Yen, American Dollars, and credit cards.
